Your point on preparing FAQs for places other than Bangalore is welcome. We are indeed aiming to have these in place. This week, our FAQ page will also become interactive and people from other places can themselves contribute to the preparation of area specific FAQs. Regarding the questions you ask, the answers are as follows:</p>
<p>
(a) The stamp duty has to be paid on the basis of the government valuation or the sale price, whichever is higher.</p>
<p>
(b) Many States have citizens charters for registration, which provide these details to the public. In many States, there are also instructions that mandate that all details of tax payable are to be displayed on notice boards in the office.</p>
<p>
(c) There is no rule that says that a sale deed must be prepared by a certified agent. You can draw up a sale deed yourself.</p>

Hello Mr. Raghu, Thanks for helping us in getting our jobs done w/o bribe. I have a couple of questions regarding my property registration at my my home place(in AP). I guess all states follow similar procedure but we don't have Khata etc at my place. So can you please clarify on the general procedure not just Bangalore and request you to place the same in FAQ. For my last registration I went through an agent who is also a certified agent to prepare the sale deed and want to avoid this time. Well here are my questions. 1) Is it legal to pay the registration amount as per the govt. valuation and not as per the sale price? 2) Is there any rule which says that the registration department should place a board/notice in their office about the procedure and documents to get their property registration done? Won't that be useful for everyone? 3) Is there any rule which says that a certified agent should prepare the sale deed? 4) Is there any rule which says that the sub-registrar should i
