Reported on October 7, 2013 from Chennai , Tamil Nadu  ι Report #36663

I am trying to get approval for my parent residential plot(vacant land) which got converted from panchayat to municipality. I have a village patta issued long time back and I understood that I need to get a town patta(CMDA Limit) before I approach for approval from the municipality. As per the advice of the govt Surveyor, I submitted the required documents to the Village officer, cleared pending taxes - got a receipt for the same and an acknowledgement for submission of the documents. After several attempts, got the surveyor to come and check the plot and he needs to submit a report to the Thasildhar who would later issue a patta I believe. I am not aware if there are any govt fees involved for getting this new patta. I feel that its the duties of the authorities to issue a patta automatically based on the documents submitted. I am willing to pay any govt fees involved (if I get a receipt), however it looks like they are expecting some kickbacks to complete the process. I am not sure what I should be doing now.
