Is it possible to get connection with government fixed fee in Bangalore???????

Reported on November 30, 2012 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #33419

The Government of Karnataka intended to give Cauvery water supply connection to 2 lakh dwellings in IV Phase, however it went with having only 13000 applications before inauguration of project. The failure to get the number as expected is due to the fact that Councillors and Legislative assembly members do encouraged vote bank areas not to apply for connection and to make available free supply to continue. Added to this, the several CMC converted BBMP layout councillors had tie up with Housing Societies to collect the application and handover to the BWSSB Contractors without fixing the total amount likely to be fixed other than government fee. This has resulted in people waiting to see how much would be the other fee (????) so that people could follow based on the figures. Though this has been brought to the c oncerned minister through mail to his office, we find no action. Is it not possible to fix those charges by BWSSB or else why not BWSSB engage few temporary staff to scrutinise the files rather than making the contractors as middle ********** for the elected representatives and the officials. Still in some areas, the applications are entertained only for the ground and first floor dwellings for new connections. What about people having 1+2 etc and why does the BWSSB official visit to such premises when tax paid receipt is attached. Is it to make extra money based on ones capacity ?
With this phase, the Cauvery water scheme for new layout will take another 3/5 years time and it is hightime the Governmnetwakes up and make a clear policy without giving room for extra money / collection through welfare associations etc.
