My father's scooty got stolen. It had a bank pass book and cheque book. We went to file an FIR regarding the matter. Initially we didn't have the owner book so the police people just gave us a receipt of the application for FIR. Later on at DTO we were asked for the actual FIRWe then went to the police police station again but this time we had the owner's manual and finally the FIR was done. Now this police person told us that money is to be paid for all the paperwork that he will do. So we tried giving him Rs 200 thinking it's the general fee, then he said that take an auto back home with that. He wanted more money and we realised he is asking for a bribe. Then my father said he doesn't have money so he said to pay it another day. Now this police man has my father's number and is calling him frequently for money. He is telling us that you bank account is frozen because police verification is not done, and it won't be done unless you pay. I will be going to the bank tomorrow with my father to see the issue. But you tell me if should really have to pay thousands of rupees to this policeman in the name of paperwork. What should I do? Kindly guide.
