Please report these details to the Ministry of External Affairs. The passport website of the Ministry has a system by which public grievances can be filed. Whenever an official says any such thing, please ask him his name and designation, so that you can file a complaint. Also ask him to provide details of why he is asking all these details. Unless you are persistent, and firm, people will always treat you in a patronising fashion in the government.

Sir, pleasure to see many stories on your blog about bribing by the people. my story is different i didn't paid bribe, what the officer say it fees. here i have my question? i applied for a new passport online and then the investigation is to be done for the same, the officer came to me at my home and handover a piece of paper. he told me to complete the form witness signature and then to submit it in his office. after completion the form i went to his office but instead of him somebody else welcomes me. i submit the form with documents demanded by the officer. and then about to leave the office. suddenly the officer sitting stopped me and say. mr where the fees? i opposed him saying i didn't read about any such stuff on the form. and then what? he refused to accept my documents saying that, they all are wrong. i agreed to submit another proof but he denied then i say i have these documents only with me and upto my knowledge these are full proof of my identity. and arguing with them. he takes my documents and say okay you may go know your work will be done... but the way they talk seems that it will never be done... now my question is that. i have submitted correct documents with name and address and if my work will not be done than in that case what should i do...please sir let me know first time ever i opposed, and argued with the govt investigating officer. what is the procedure so that i could get my passport, if they will not work and forward the form to the passport authority with incomeplete investigation then what should i do... i have fear that if not done. will i have to go again for the same procedure. like application for new passport submit 1000 rs and so on...please help
