Registrar of marriages - an officer to emulate

Reported on August 25, 2011 from New Delhi , Delhi  ι Report #32933

Having completed the documentation for registration of marriage of my children, I went to the office of the Registrar of marriages, East Delhi, togetherwith my son and daughter-in-law on September 1, 2008. I had been advised by some people to be in readiness to spend some extra money to avoid hassles.
However, I was pleasantly surprised to ********** the official dealing with our application. He scrutinised the application and gave us a date. I requested him to prepone it as my children were to leave Delhi by that date. He immediately agreed and gave us another date to suite our convenience. On the appointed day, we presented ourselves before the Registrar, who turned out to be an equally nice human being. He made us comfortable in his Chamber by engaging us in an extremely cordial conversation. We got the marriage certificate with a pleasant feeling that we do have such noble souls in our administrative offices/courts. Before leaving the office, I thanked and made a request to the Registrar to permit me to open a small box of sweets in my bag. I can't describe the amount of my satisfaction over the beautiful manner in which my request was declined by the Hon'ble Magistrate/Registrar. Incidentally, I did't have to pay anything to get the certificate.
