My husband & I were dropping my mother to Kurla railway station, way back in 2004. We were running late and did not see the ticket counter at the platform. On our way out we were stopped by the ticket collector. We didn't have tickets so we apologized. He told us we had broken a law & would have to pay a fine of Rs.250 each. We said that was really high so he gave us an option of paying Rs.250 as a whole but without a receipt. He even told us he had seen us hurry to the platform early on. We were livid and back then could not afford to spend Rs.500 on a fine. So we paid a bribe. 6 years later it still angers me because here was a man was penalizing us for breaking the law while doing it himself.
