Hi. My name is S S. I was born in Vijaywada, Krishna District of Andhra Pradesh. i was born in house and not in a hospital. I wanted to apply for passport and for that i had to produce my birth certificate. So i came back to Vijayawada and asked the vijayawada municipality corporation about the certificate. They asked to pay some nominal amount which i did. In citizen charter, it is said that maximum time for getting a birth certificate is 30 days. After 30 days I again went there and was shocked just to find out that they hadn't even started the enquiry. I needed passport urgently and hence i didn't have any option other than approaching a broker. I had to pay him 8300/-. Since i paid the money i got the certificate in 7 days. had they asked the same amount of money at the start, I could have atleast some time...If these sort of these things go on, I am sure that even my grandchildren can't see India as a developed country..
