Bribe of 1000 for passport verification

I have applied for VISA on Tatkal basis. Two different officers came for passport verification at my residence on consecutive dates. One of them was from CBI as claimed by him. After checking the papers they still waited for something. When asked they told that they had to take so much pain in going house to house for such verifications and reimbursement against such expenses from Govt. is peanuts. They requested me to pay 5oo. I paid them 500 each to avoid any problem in my passport.
