Bribe with a e-ticket

Reported on December 13, 2010 from Mangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #29200

We 3 persons traveled from Manglore to Bangalore by an e-ticket. I do accept that we should carry original ID card but when are traveling from outside how can any one carry the original IDs. bu we were having the journey tickets of Bangalore to Mangalore and the xerox copy of DL. When the TC came over there to check the tickets we showed him e-tickets and he did not accept that. we fought with him and orgued that about the copy of the DL which is a government document and showed him the reservation slip of Bangalore to Manglore but he was not ready to accept and asked to pay 1300-00 Rs fine. We did not have that much of money and he went away. In the next compartment some of the medical students were traveling and they were also having the e-tickets with the same problem with TC but they do carry bank ID cards which was not also accepted by the TC. After some time he came over and he asked to pay 50 Rs per person and he told that he will give the receipt. but when we paid the money he was not ready to give the receipt and he told nothing to worry about the tickets. he returned the e-tickets slip. that day totally he collected more than 1000 Rs from two compartments who did not have the original ID cards with e-tickets. Just we can assume if he collects 1000 Rs from only two compartments how much he could have collected from the whole compartments of the train. This is our situation in out own state. Railway department officials are most corrupted these days. We fought with him to give the receipt but of no use. If he collects from the educated people what about the uneducateds who don't know anything about these e-tickets. Even though we are aware that paying a bribe is an offense, we are forced to pay the amount in some situations. It is unfortunate to have these educated officials in government deparments.
