Bribe to get a new Electricity connection

I had to pay a bribe of Rs5000 to get the new connection on time,inspite of providing all the legal documents and fulfilling the formalities. otherwise I've been told that it would take minimum 2 months to get the meter installed. After paying the bribe, i got the meter next day.
