When we went to get a verification for a passport for our family members, we were asked to pay Rs. 200 per head i.e. Rs. 600 in total only then would the police guy write a clearance letter. He took us outside the police station and asked us to give this amount only then would he write the letter. When we asked why we need to give money, he behaved rudely and was not ready to listen anything.
Not wanting to be involved with the Police, the elders agreed to give the amount.
Also, we saw at least 10 other people there for the same on that 1 day around the same time so we can understand how much they might be earning.
We believe that it needs to stop from the root through to the top.
