Corrupt cops stopped my Ola and harassed us to pay him Rs.1K bribe money

On 6th March, there was a college fest near our locality and it got over a little before midnight. My 3 friends and I waited for some time before our cab was booked due to high requests. It was 12.30 am and were on our way when 2 police men stopped our cab and asked us to get out. Remind you, we were going to our flats, almost reached it too and we were all sober. So no one was creating a ruckus and we had not broken any rules.
One of the cops came and asked us what we do and we said that we were students. He said that students shouldnt be out so late and he was going to take us all to the station and accused us of murders and gang involvement. He threatened to call our parents and file a case against us. He said that in doing so, there would be a permanent mark on our CVs.
He would let this slid only if we paid Rs. 500/person.
Mind you, none of us had done anything illegal, none of us were drunk and all 4 boys, no girls even. I did not know minding our own business was a crime in Bangalore. After a lot of haggling, he let us go for a bribe of Rs.1000.
This is the kind of corrupt cops who circle our locality.
