I was returning to India and the airlines promptly lost my baggage. The customs officer asked me to take my carry-on for inspection. I had a 2 yr old laptop whose battery was dead as I used it on the plane. This was before the rule of 1 laptop per head through customs was passed. The customs officer insisted the laptop was brand new because it was not starting. When I protested, the cop said if I want my missed bags, I do not have a choice but pay them bribe. The cop even had change in US dollars. *******
