Encounter Corruption as i arrived India on vacation.

As i arrived Mumbai airport, I passed through immigration process & luggage scanning process. After scanning the custom officer asked me for details of my luggage. I gave him all details & asked him he can check my luggage physically if required. As i was not having any dutiable item with me. He start telling me that i have to go through legal process & it will take time. I asked him to go through it & i will pay if there is any tax i have to pay. Now he start telling me many stories that i can be in trouble if go through proper channel..it will take time...& he also told me that i hav to pay around Rs 15,000/= & will take many hours. I asked him that if i can talk to any of his officer. He said he himself is officer. This all already took my 30 minutes. I want him to process the thing officially but he seems not intrested on it & later he asked me he can help. He want me to pay him Rs 5000 to him. I was surprised & realised that i am in India again. When I refused to pay that amount he asked me ok pay what ever I want to pay & I can leave. I was having US $ 50 note in my pocket which i have had to offer him to get out of the airport. I was feeling so miserable in my own home country.
