Our electricity bill is Rs. 1,500 per month on average. Last month, the person who reads electric meters came to our place and said that we had used a lot of electricity in that month and the bill for that month was Rs. 35,000! We said that is impossible because we were not even in town for about 15 days during that month. The MSEB official offered to bring the bill down to Rs. 1,000 for a bribe of Rs. 1,500. Since we had no other option available, we ended up paying that money to get our bill corrected.
