I am a college student from Mumbai. I travel from Vasai to Bandra daily. I missed my train once, so I entered into the luggage compartment of a lady's special. I had my college ID with me for proof, if required. At Dahisar, a Police in civil clothes entered the train and told me to get off. He caught 2 other men and took us to the holding room. He threatened to put us in jail if we did not pay him a fine of 1,200 rupees. I tried to convince him that I didn't do anything wrong and showed him my college ID, stating that students are allowed in the compartment as I had gone once before, a month ago and I had asked the police in the train about this matter. He told me that the laws had changed and they recently caught a 12 yr old boy. He then asked my how much money I had. I had 100 rupees with me. In the end I paid him 70 rupees out of desperation as I was getting late. I should have never given him the money and I should have asked for his name and badge but I was in a hurry as I was getting late, so I left immediately. Can someone tell me the exact rules in such a situation.
