Had to pay bribe for releasing my motorbike.

I had recently asked my dad to send my bike from my native to bangalore. As soon as it is received here, I went to the station to collect it. After the verification has been done by the railway department officials, there was one railway police personnel who demanded bribe to get the motorbike released from the railway station. When i insisted that I had all the documents required, he said "that is the reason i am asking only Rs 200/-" Couple of workers around have come and informed me, it is necessary for the people to pay and its a must. Later even when i insisted, I will not pay, then they said there is some petrol left in the bike and it was supposed to be empty when given for transport. And then I said OK, I am ready to pay the fine. then he comes up with staggering amount Rs 2000/- as the fine amount. I was carrying only Rs 400 with me and that day being a bandh in bangalore (22nd Jan 2011), I had to pay that bribe of Rs 200/- to get my bike released. I know i did a wrong personally, but did pay the bribe.
