I was working for a Software company in Hyderabad and got an opportunity to go to US on consulting, I was told by our company that I had to get a no objection certificate from the tax department that I do not owe any teaxes from my salary, since the tax is withheald from the pay check in private company I was eligible to get a no objection certificate from the tax department. I was asked by the person in charge to give Rs 3500/- in order to get the certificate, I would have faught to get it without paying, I was leaving in a week and he wanted a month to give me the certificate so I had to drop my hard earned cash Rs 3500/- into his draw, this happend in the office itself and I know of all my friends who left to US have paid this guy to get the document which is righfully ours.
