Paid 100 bucks as 'entry charges'

Reported on December 4, 2012 from Mumbai , Maharashtra  ι Report #323

I had imported a sony micro laptop from UK, as it was my first time in customs office I wasn't aware that you could settle things under the table. The assessing officer asked a postman to open the package in front of me, and assessed the duty as 2200 rupees, which I was comfortable paying, so he made an official receipt, I paid the amount in the post office window and took my parcel. A postman was deployed to record the outgoing parcels, he asked my name telephone number, address and said "100 Rupees, entry charges", since I was excited about my new toy, I paid the bribe, I walked out of the chamber and there was a postman standing who opened my parcel in front of the officer, he said "Sir, give me something", All I had was 10 bucks in my pocket (I had to withdraw money from ATM to pay the duty, didn't withdraw anything extra), which I offered to him saying "This is all I have left" and he made faces, so I walked away.
Seriously, this sucks. Imagine the guy doing entries collects 100 bucks from 15 people daily, and works for 20 days in a month, perhaps his salary will be more than his boss?
What shall happen to such people after death, is something they don't think upon.
For the same reason, I don't like the country and won't be coming back once am out of it.
