Paid Bribe in International Airport to Customs

Whenever I return from abroad (US/ Europe) to India, in International airport Customs officer stops and says "You have lot of items in your bag and you will have to pay Customs duty" I told him that the items I am carrying are not fall under cutoms duty and few which are there are within my eligibility of bringing items from outside country. Then he says I will open your bags and it will delay your exit from airport by 4-5 hrs. As I was so tired with long journey I was also worried about missing my connecting domestic flight. Then one of his agent comes to me and tells that, "Kuch deke Nikal Jao" (Pay some thing and get rid-off). They I asked how much I need to pay, he says 50 dollas.. I negotiated for less and paid Rs. 2000 to that agent of customs officer. I also saw this was heppening with many others. It may also happen that people are paying bribe as they have many items for which they are NOT paying custom duty and instead they are paying bribe..
