I paid bribe to replace my meter when i was moving out of my rented house, the meter gone off and I had to replace to get my security money back from my owner.Although I never thought to pay bribe to get replace it and get my money back, but unfortunatly it didn't work even if you give enough time to the department.I went to the electricity office and file an application, of which I was told to get it signed from JE of that area and then go to different office to submit the application.Even while my first visit I found one person there who asked me give Rs 1500 if i need the connection in 1-2 days time, I said I can wait for it.I went through the process but I was shocked when i went to submit my application to senior officer, when i was placing the application on his desk, he said " meter replace hona hai" , I said yes on which he replied " Dekh lena agar aise he ho jaaye to".
I waited for 1.5 month no one came to replace it and my owner was calling me on daily basis, i went to the office , to the person who demanded the bribe, he smiled and said " Lag gaya", i also smiled about the organised bribe system, and paid him the amount to get it done in only few hours.
That is how our system works.
