I am a NRI but my old parents live in India, they dont want to leave their India to come with me. Summers in Jaipur are killing and my mother has BP problems, due to which she just can not tolerate hot temperatures any more as she is getting old. I wanted to get their home Air-conditioned, the least I could do for them. For that I needed to increase the power of connection. My father applied for increase in connection. The guy dealing with it asked him to pay INR 9500 in cash to him. He handed the money, the guy took INR 7000 from that and asked him to deposit the rest INR 2500 with the cashier as service charge. My old father could not do anything and he deposited the amount as said. Almost 3 months since then, he visits Electicity office three times a week to check when the power will be increased and there is no hint that it will be done anytime soon. On the contrary, the guy advised my father to wait till next summer as winter is approaching and he doesnt need AC anymore this year. It is so frustrating. I will be visiting India this october and all I will be doing is getting this thing done. I feel so bad about my old parents who has to live hard life, even though I am spending money to make their life easy and comfortable.
