I purchased an individual house in Tambaram area, hard earned money and hefty bank loan. The registration officials wanted me to give them something happily, they wouldn't accept my smile as that representation of happiness. Instead demanded 10000. I was willing to register the home for the actual market price, but they suggested to reduce its value and pay them instead. The deal was clear no matter how much you register your house for you have to pay 1% to them.
