I had been to my native place as I had got a call for the police verification. I went to the police station which was in the aivan shahi area in gulbarga. I was carrying all the documents required and all of them where legitimate. When I entered in the station, I was very pleased with the way the police man was helping us finish all the formalities. All my documents where verified, signature and finger impressions where also taken. After all the process got over, the police man without any shame asked for a tip off. I was stunned for a second (this was the first time I had ever seen a cop shameless asking for bribe). I was shell shocked for few seconds, then my grandfather gave him 300 Rs, but that would not assuage his appetite. He asked for some more money as he had to give a cut to his senior officer too, then my grand dad gave him another 200 Rs. I know it was a small sum, but that incident has staid in my thought and i well never be able to obviate this guilt feeling in me.
