It was a weekend and I was on a tour to western ghats with my friends. We were on the way from Kodshadri to Murudehwara through the way Udupi(Byndoor). At a check post some policemen stopped our car (Qualis) .They fetch our car to Byndoor police station Udupi district. They alleged that we (with qualis) have done a hit and run case in the way. While we had a smooth journey, nothing had happened in the way. Even they had not any written complaint with our car number. We were requesting that we have not met with any road accident.
They were saying that our car hit a bike in the way, while our vehical had even no scrach marks.They were not ready to listen us. Finally They came to the point for what they had detained us. They demanded 5000 Rs..
we were in a hurry to reach home (Bangalore), because we had to join our offices on Monday. We managed to pay him to get rid out of the hell.
Now we thought that may be someone else has hit the bike and they could not trace them that's why they were trying-out to get the compensation for the biker. But finally they did not give any documents that they have collected some kind of compensation to some biker from us. They did not had any complaint. I think this was just a fun for them, and a way to collect money for their Diwali luxuries. They harrased us wasted our time and money. They misused the power given to them. They break the law & Order by harrasing us. I think this kind of things happen a lot with so many people but everyone either don't have time or unaware of this platform or any kind of public forums to share their experiences.
