Reported on August 4, 2014 from Mumbai , Maharashtra  ι Report #42615

I was driving back home and due to water logging on the road some water splashed around when I went through the patch. Cops followed me and told me to pullover, which I did. They told me I was drunk. I told them to check me with a breathanalyzer, which ultimately showed zero alcohol content in my breath. After that they started threatening me with "dhara 279" and told me that I would have to pay a 4500inr "deposit" and then "surrender my license and car and appear in court" too. I, being a novice, easily fell for their trick and ended up paying them a "fine" of 1000inr, all that I had on my wallet. They also told me that the license will be confiscate next time I get "caught". They wouldn't tell me what "dhara 279" was actually was. As this is the first time I've paid a bribe, I fell for it easily and ended up think of repercussions of the "deposit".
