We had a 4 day excise audit for our unit for a period 3 years. Not only did we have to pay for their transportation at Rs. 2K per day, the two officers ran up a bill of Rs. 2K each day for lunch!
After this once the audit was over, they demanded Rs. 75K for the file to pass smoothly. We are a small unit and do not have those kinds of profits. Finally we negotiated to Rs. 20,000 - with no guarantee that the file will pass smoothly. SO overall we had to pay 20K in cash and another 20K expenses over a 4 day period. These men are unscrupulous and absolutely shamelessly looting the business community - making it unpleasant to conduct business.
