Registration of change in Name- Suvidha Kendra+Municipal Corporation+Civil *******
My mother's name was changed after marriage. However, my birth certificate still had her maiden name. It created a problem when I wanted to have my official documents like passport etc. When I approached the Suvidha Kendra, they took my application asking for a new document every day, finally registered it with all the documents after 3 days. After 20 days, when I approached them to get my birth certificate with the changed name, they told me it was rejected because of lack of proper documents. I insisted and tried to approach the person at the managerial level. After much persuasion and my expression of urgency, he told me to ********** the people at Municipal Corporation office who directly refused. I asked the Project Manager and got to know that MC employees were expecting some bribe which they could not get due to a call from the project manager. They told me " Madam ji, Phone karvane ki kya zaroorat thi, kaam waise bhi ho jaata hai". Then I went to the civil surgeon who again expected some bribe but were not successful because of the intervention of the project manager. The process was fast-tracked and I could manage to get my certificate in a span of 4 days after repeated visits to civil hospital, municipal corporation office and suvidha centre. I dont know how many innocent people are forced to pay bribes everyday?? These people enjoy their lives on these bribes day in and day out. It was one of those odd experiences which made me aware of the unethicl practices of government offices.
