Maharashtra Industrial Development Corruption (MIDC)

Reported on September 7, 2011 from Pune , Maharashtra  ι Report #3982

To start my own industry, I had applied to the MIDC to transfer leasehold rights from an existing transferor to my firm's name. After giving me a long and impossible list of paperwork (certificates of various departments ranging from labour commissioner, IT, Sales Tax, Excise, Property Tax Clearance, receipts, various bills, etc.) that the transferor and I need to submit, they told me that as Grantor of the lease, the zonal and regional officer were final authorities who would decide on my transfer application and whether my industry deserved to occupy the transferor's plot. The zonal officer demanded 3 lakhs and settled at 2 lakhs in cash. I had to withdraw my hard earned salary from my bank to give it to these buggers. After getting the transfer order, it is mandatory to pay transfer fees, which I did, then sign the lease deed with the MIDC. I had the lease deed adjudicated and also paid stamp duty. The officers now had to make notings to the file, prepare a letter and then send the deed copies to the regional officer for his signature. The junior officers once again demanded Rs. 10000 each, or said they will stall/delay registration of the lease deed. Since I had already paid a large sum to the transferor and was incurring a huge interest on my loan every day, I was forced to bribe to get the MIDC to move quickly on my case.
The so-called officers live like leeches and parasites instead of honorable honest and hard-working humans.
Is this the India we wish to hand over to our children?! *******
