Asked to pay bribe in the name " Office Charges"
I was determnined not to pay bribe .... and I walked in to BBMP office asking for Khata Transfer . This was pending for 5+ years and I resisted getting it done by agent . I wanted to try on my own . The official explained the entire requirement , collected all documents and asked me to collect the same in a weeks time. He did not give any acknowledgement of the application though. On the D Day( 6th day when I called him up) he demanded the amount - 3750/- rupees. I wanted to give in cheque but he said it can be accepted only in cash and there will not be any reciept. I politely explained my inability to support such a payment mode. He was very clear that in that case I cannot get the khata transfer done. Afer 4 days I again went back to the same offcicial determined to ask for the same again. In the mean time I contacted IAC ********** and understood all possible next steps. My wife accompanied me to avoid any physical abuse. After a long wait, the official came and handed over the Khata and did not ask for the amount. I ended up paying normal fees of 125/- rupees.
