Bribe to collect my Smart Card
The first day I went to collect smart card of my car, I was refused saying that I need to present a photo-copy of my electricity even though I had a photo-copy of my driving license. When I said I will collect it later with a copy of electricity bill, a person standing close to the counter said to me that he can get the smart card for a charge of Rs.100. I refused and came back home. When I went a couple of weeks later with a photo-copy of my electricity bill, the person at the counter said to me that the rules have changed and I need to present a different document generally given by the car showrooms. I said I was not given such a document and I was not informed the last time I came. They told me that the rules have recently changed. When I was about to leave the place, I was again approached by the same person and this time he said that he can get the smart card for a charge of Rs.150 and informed me that it is a nominal charge since he has to divide the amount among officers as well. I refused and came back home. Now, I have obtained the document from the showroom and I will visit the office again. Let us see what excuse they have this time.
