Bribe demanded for adjustment due to leased accomodation
I lease an apartment in Mumbai.nit is a registered lease. When I submitted my papers in order to purchase a car I got an email telling me that the papers were fine but that the RTo does not register a car if the accomodation was rented, but with a payment of Rs 3500 in cash some adjustment could be made. I spoke with the person sending me this and he told me this was standard practce. Needless to say i refused to buy the car from them.
Checking online I found that a number of people had faced the same problem.
How can any government department refuse to accept a court registered agreement as address proof is beyond me.
I am now searching for a dealer who has the ********** to sell me a car that needs no such adjustments
