Pathetically injured poor old domestic worker with a badly broken hip joint was admitted at GH, Chennai. Was left to scream and yell in pain for 4 days. Was said that all doctors on leave due to festivities. With just a nurse left to attend these patients. No pain killers nor any kind of treatment was offered. She was left in pain for 4 days before a surgery date could be fixed.For every little move, she had to bribe starting from the Sweeper, Token issuer, Attender, Stretcher pulling man, Attender and whoever dealt with patients on a day to day basis except doctors.
The toilet is FULL OF SHIT ALL OVER the place. I have no better way of explaining this, as i myself made a visit. The Government Hospital is located just across Egmore station, Chennai and appears as a famous landmark these days.
This is the poor state of a leading Government Hospital which is meant to serve the poor and needy.
Even the 10rs bribe being collected IS A HUGE AMOUNT if had to be paid for every single move towards treatment of dear ones.
Lots of suicides have been reported due to neglect, but only appears as a two-liner in corner of nth page of famous NEWSPAPERS.
What can i do about it all as a Citizen of India who really cares for the society?
