The corrupt cops of Pune
I was new to Pune. It was a quiet Sunday morning and I took a wrong left turn on Main St (No Entry). The cop caught me and insisted on a bribe. I explained to him that the No Entry sign (hidden behind a tree) is not useful as when I am turning left, I cannot see it until after I make the turn.
He still insisted on me giving him a bribe to which I told him that I will pay the fine and I want a receipt. He pretended to look around and then said the receipt is at the Police Station and warned me that it will cost me a lot more there.
I was not having any of that. So I made him sit in my car and took him to the Police Station. I told the Police inspector there the same thing and he told me I would have to pay (5x the original bribe). I said fine. I took out the money but before handing it over to him, I asked for a receipt.
He (pretended to) searched for the receipt all over the Police Station and was unable to find one. He then quietly handed me back my money and off I went on my merry way (He made my day!).
