Fees for printing property tax challan
I had visited the Bellandur BBMP office today around 12:00 pm to get a clarification on zone classification of my apartment. The officer there was friendly and helped me with the zone and offered to print the challans as well. (He didn't even wait for me to confirm). After printing the challans, he asked for a fee of Rs. 100 per challan. I told him, that he should have mentioned the fee of Rs. 200/- (I had two challans) to me earlier and I would have done it myself. Nevertheless, I asked him to issue a receipt to which he refused and I said, I will pay only if I get a receipt. He started arguing and there was a gentleman on the next table, who appeared to be his senior, after listening to my tone and argument, he gestured him to leave the matter and not demand the fee.
Property tax has been increased by 20% this year and there has been no improvement civic infrastructure whatsoever so far. In fact BBMP workers don't even come to clean our area, claiming that it's a private area and they are not suppose to enter, but they collect the tax without fail.
