I had relocated from Mumbai to Mira-Bhayander in the adjoining Thane District in August 2013 and approached the Bharat Gas Agency (sole distributor for the Mira Road - East area) for a domestic LPG connection transferred from Mumbai. The staff initially shooed me away saying they have stopped giving new connections for now. However, I noticed some other prospective consumers negotiating with other staff on getting a connection for a consideration. Hence, sensing something fishy, I traced the area's BPCL Field Officer's contact no and spoke with him about my plight. He assured me of a connection within a few days as per company policy and subject to my fulfilling their KYC formalities.
Now, when I approached the distributor again, and said I had spoken with the Field Officer, they got alert and asked me to provide KYC documents, and also a Notatized Affidavit in a prescribed Form (which, interestingly had the address of a local Advocate). I had the necessary Proof of ID
