Harassed the maid returning to India
I traveled to Indian in March 2012 from Muscat. It was an emergency - a family member was very sick.
The maid who works for us in Muscat came with me to help me out in the crisis.
My family was cleared thru immigration but the officer asked the maid to wait.
He asked her innumerable questions about herself, personal details, age of her kids, her property, salary, if she was carrying money or gold etc.
He even got her to speak in Telugu to check if her accent matched the region stated in the address in the passport. He challenged her saying the house number on her passport was incorrect.
All officers passively watched.
After 45 minutes I blew my top and spoke both to him and an higher up.
The higher up then walked over and told the officer to let the maid go.
I do not remember his name unfortunately but it was a clear case of harassment
I suspect the harassment would have magically stopped if she or me had slipped a few notes under the table.
