Mundane no-helmets.

Reported on March 20, 2011 from Chennai , Tamil Nadu  ι Report #32308

This is the most common form of low-level bribing. I am not a totally uncorrupted person. I have bribed traffic policemen when I was driving and eligible to apply for a license. I was in XII std, and a person of my age was not eligible to drive a hero honda splendor.

After I procured a license, I am careful that I don't pay a bribe. I have been caught several times for not wearing a helmet. For the first few times, I paid the fine and got the receipt. There was one situation where I was advised by the policeman not to pay the full bribe amount and to pay half of it to him. I refused and paid it in full. He, with a mild resistance, got the money and dropped the issue. I waited there for sometime but he didn't hand me the receipt. I had to ask him to get the receipt. When you get caught for not wearing a helmet, do pay the fine, which I don't think is a big amount. If it's a big amount to you, then don't ride without wearing one. If you do get caught and if you are paying the fine, make sure that you get the receipt.
