Open bargain for bribe during passport verification inspite of procurement of all valid documents
I was called after 4 months of getting my passport through tatkal scheme from local police station to appear for verification.On appearing I was once returned as I carried only documents proof of my candidature and didnt bring my parents' documentary proofs.In the evening on producing the documents as required by the police he asked what have I come prepared.I was aware of the system and hence I produced Rs 300/- which he asked about the amount and on hearing hhe refused to take saying the rule is to give at least Rs 1000-1500 minimum for this job.i protested that i had valid papers and had a older passport as well but he openly said that he cannot vouch for not losing the xerox copies as he will take time to verify all the documents.
I refused to pay and walked out of the room after submitting all the necessary documents.
i am already outside India as I didnt disclose that my visa and tickets were ready
