PROBLEM POSED BY TRAFFIC COPS IN MUMBAI
THIS IS A COMPLAINT I HAD WRITTEN TO THE JCP (TRAFFIC) MUMBAI ON 29th JAN 2011. BUT NO ACTION AND REPLY FROM THEM. I SENT 2 REMINDERS TOO BUT TO NO AVAIL

Dear Sir,
I am working in "XXX XXXXXXXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXX XXX"
XX, XXX XXXXX, XXXXXXXX XXXXX, XXXXXXXX XXXXX XXXX, XXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXX, WORLI, Mumbai - 400018.
For last Six Years, everyday I drive down approximately 40 kms from my Thane Residence to reach My office, at the location of "********** CHAMBERS/C.J.HOUSE".
I park my CAR (MH-04/CD-XXXX) in the PAY & PARK Area of NEHRU CENTER and then walk down to my office at above address.
For Last six years I have been continuously observing that the TRAFFIC COPS stationed there are hardly helping people in easing the traffic, and rather making the life of drivers or commuters miserable.
Instead of helping the people, this Bunch of COPS keep a vulture’s Eye on each and every individual and trying to extort money from them. They form a short of GANG and pounce on the person they catch hold of.
Till yesterday, I was just a silent observer of these atrocities, until when I also became a Prey to them:
On 28th. Jan 2011, at 6:30PM, I took out my car from PARKING BAY of Nehru Center and hardly drove for 50 meters and queued-up behind three cars on the Bye Lane (Sanghi Path) of Dr. A.B.Road. There was a heavy traffic on Dr. A.B.Road and so we were waiting on the Bye Lane itself and were waiting for clearing of the Main Road.
My car was absolutely STANDSTILL and engine was also off(I normally switch off my Car, when wait period looks to be more than 50 second or so). In the mean time I got a call from my colleague asking me about my position. "I just replied him to wait below the office, and I am coming within 5 minuets" In the mean time one Traffic Cop "XX. XXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXXX (PSR.No.- XXXXXX)" came upto my car and asked me to show me the Driving license.
I asked him about the fault... but he authoritatively roared on me to show him the license...
On showing him the License, he virtually snatched it from me and then asked me in MARATHI, "TUMI PHONE WAR HOTA, BAGA KAAY KARNAR?" (You were talking over phone, see what can you do?)
I sensed that he was asking for bribe. Then I came out of my Car and started shouting on him. Passersby started gathering around and seeing the adverse situation he started writing the CHALLAN. To make his standing more firm and extract more money he along with MOBILE PHONE, added the absence of Seat Belt also in the challan.
On interference from the surrounding people he ultimately cut the offence of SEAT BELT from the challan.
Seeing the above attitude, SIR, I request you to give your people, a proper training to become a human being first,before decorating them with the COP'S UNIFORM, EMPOWERING & EQUIPING THEM WITH MIGHT TO FORCEFULLY ENFORCE THE ATTROCITIES (In the Name of `RULES & REGULATIONS') ON INNOCENT CITIZENS.
If they say that you have committed Crime, then ordinary citizen doesn’t have the power to contest them.
SIR, Once again I request you to look into the matter and help me in getting my DRIVING LICENCE back.

Ihad to wait for full one month to get my Driving Licence::::
In the mean time I had to undergo a lot of mental agony and sufferings like:
1. After 15 Days, I was summoned by the Magistrait of the Lower Court to stand a trial for the crime, which I didn't do.
The trial Date was fixed after another 7 days.
2. I was forced/asked to plead guilty infront of the Magistrate, otherwise my Penalty Amount would have gone many fold higher than the normal (Just like the ransome charged by the Underworld Gangsters)
3. I had to pay Rs. 100/= as penalty on the date of pleading Guilty.
4. My licence was impounded for 7 days as a part of the penalty.
In total I could not drive my vehicle for more than 10 days for all these Red *******
