Salt Lake RTO ;
I have heard a lot about the RTO offices and how those have been run by the agents.
Some how I wanted to have a first hand experience on how to deal without any agent.
I wanted to remove Hypothecation for my Car.
I visited the salt lake PVD and approached few people for the process. many of them were mere agents and tried to fool me by saying all complications.
Without wasting much timeI found a desk "may i help you": wow was happy to see that.
Met the person and asked him to provide me with detailed steps for cancellation of Hypothecation.
Since I was carrying all the documents (copy along with original), I went ahead to the counter to submit the document. It was 2:10 and the counter closes at 2:00 pm.
But the person with a little request was ready to accept the documents.
Now I could see the difference in behaviors to the agents and to the normal people.
He instructed me to come after 2 days to pay the amount and then after 2 weeks to collect the new smart Card.
It took me 22 days since my first visit to get my work done. I had to visit 3 times and all the time I spend hardly 30 mins in the RTO office.
My work was done without a single penny as bribe.
I am happy to see that..yes it takes a little time but files are progressing in normal pace without any bribe as well.
Since many of us (including me for some other cases) do not have time to go thre multiple times, ends up paying these agents heavily.
