Hello Sir/Madam, After days of receiving the message from the Police

Reported on March 14, 2017 from Mysore , Karnataka  ι Report #157787

Hello Sir/Madam,
After days of receiving the message from the Police station, I waited for the police station to call or come home for police verification, but this did not happen. So after 4 days, I decided to visit the police station myself. There, I met the person who was in charge of the police verification. Instead of him coming home and getting the details of my neighbors, he gave me the form and told me to go get it myself. And so, I did. Later, when I went back to submit the form and my documents, he asked me to pay Rs.200 as a fee. I agreed to pay only if he was ready to give me a receipt, as I thought it was a part of the verification process. Later, he asked me to give the money for the charges of a bus ticket, as (according to him) the forms had to be submitted to Bangalore(140 kms from Mysore), and in order to that, a policeman needed to board a bus.
I also agreed to do that only if he showed me the bus ticket. By this time, I understood that he was actually asking for a bribe. When I refused to pay, he later told me that he would call me when the main inspector is available, in order to take his signature. It's been a week and he hasn't called yet. And whenever I go to the police station, in spite of the main inspector being present there, he does not get the signature. This is because I refused to pay the bribe to him. The problem is that the whole police station supports him. I have an audio recording of him asking me bribe and everything.

Is there any higher authority, to whom I can directly contact, in order to complain about this and let someone take action against this, and also help me get the police verification done without any problems?

Please Help ASAP.

Thank You
Sourabh Kothari
