I am living in a house for the last 30 years in Chennai, which was owned by my father after partition with my uncle. My father expired in 2004, leaving behind a registered will bequeathing the house to me. I have 3 sisters and one niece(daughter of brother, who predeceased my father). I have paid the cash compensation to them as per the will. How do I get the name changed in the Corporation records, so that I can sign documents for complaints, permissions etc. I was told this is necessary because as per records the owner is not alive. I have been paying the taxes by cheque from my bank account from 2004 onwards. Do I have to compulsorily get the will probated for this? It may be difficult to get documents by my sisters as they are located in various parts of the world. Thank you in advance.
