Marriage certificate
I went to take a marriage certificate in 2001 to courts, i just wanted to have it ready for future in case i need. I was astonished to see the system, i was made to call my father, my father in law had to come from 250 kms away, i was required to carry a marriage photograph, i was expected to have my marriage card kept safe for this purpose too.... After i did all i was surprised to know that everything is ok but i can pick my certificate now after few weeks b'cos the law provides for posting my picture etc. on some notice board for few weeks to give chance to people to challenge, if any. This law though does sound logical but does not make sense as no one is going to come to read notice boards of courts daily to challenge a marriage, even if it is genuine to do so. We need to look at these age old laws to make life easy and reduce work in courts/corruption....... I was lucky to have found one good officer who was the saving grace in my ordeal.... Instead of this we can change our laws and tell all marrying couples to do something at the time of marriage itself to make this process easy by notifying it to municipal committee or something of that nature.....
