Passport verification by Jalahalli

Reported on August 26, 2013 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #35871

I applied for the renewal of my Passport in April 2013. Post the appointment, I received my passport within a week. The delivery postwoman did not demand anything.
Then I got a call from the local Police Station informing me that they need to verify my details. I was out of town on that day and was asked to call the police officer once I came back into town.
After coming back, I called the police officer and set up an appointment for him to visit my home. He came home, verified all the documents, took a letter from my neighbor and left. There was no hint of any expectation from him. After this I was supposed to go to the police station and present myself to the station in-charge in order to finish the file.
I was called the next day (Sunday) to report to the station in-charge. I was treated respectfully and requested to write another letter. In addition to me a couple of other applicants had also come to meet the in-charge. The in-charge met us, did his part and that was it. The process was very seamless and not prolonged at all. Unfortunately I do not remember the name of the official.

A very good experience right from the appointment for the passport renewal up-to the the verification and delivery. This gives me a hope that things may be changing, though at a very slow pace.
