Property tax receipt- no sweat!
I was to go and collect the 'property tax paid'receipt from the begur village office. being a non-native and not knowing the local language or the system, i was anticipating the worst. the tax had already been paid by my husband and i just had to show he slip and get the printed receipt. on reaching the village office, i found out there was some inspection going on that day and the officails were all busy with that. and still, some one came out to enquire what brings me there. he showed me in, took me to the steno who is in charge of printing the receipts, and handed it over to me right away. and finally smiled and asked "is there anything else i can do for you mam?" - his palms clasped in a gesture tht he is not into the bribe business... now, what more can i ask for- than this hospitality??
