Someone refused to accept my father's money to speed up the process

Reported on October 6, 2013 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #36649

I needed to get my drivers license in a hurry since it was required for my passport. I was done with the entire process that that was the day they needed to issue the new Drivers license in 2007 (This website does not allow me to go below 2009 but this incident happened in 2007). They were having issues with the new printer and it had been more than 2 hours since my picture had been taken. My father worried that they might send us home and ask us to return the next week asked an officer if there was "something he could do to speed up the process, chai, coffee, etc." The officer immediately refused almost embarrassed and said they really were having issues with the printer and that they were trying their best. Of course me and my dad felt horrible about offering him the bribe and waited quietly. About 1 more hour later my drivers license was ready. They gave it to me and then asked if they could let other see it because it was the first of the new drivers licenses they had issued. My license made it to almost everyone in the office and they seemed pretty happy with the new design.

I was really impressed and so proud of the Yeshwanthpur RTO office that day. Not only were they honest. They were also proud of their work. They genuinely wanted to help.

Thank you for bringing my confidence in the system back up.
