Why students dont pay bribe in Jawaharlal Nehru University for passport varification?

Reported on November 23, 2010 from New Delhi , Delhi  ι Report #33255

Students in JNU dont end up paying bribe for police verification because police personels are not allowed to go and ********** a student in a hostel. Police has to contact JNU's administrative office to varify student's credentials and then the student has to show up at the administrative office just to sign some formal documents, in front of JNU's private security staff and administrative people. I got my passport in just 30 days after submitting a normal application without paying a single penny extra. I think this JNU like system should be applied to all the universities. But for common people we need to do something.

I would like to share a funny story, several years ago policemen used to go to the students' hostel for varification and used to take bribe. JNU students are known for their non tolernance of such act. So, once when asked for a bribe by a policemen, JNU students beaten up the policemen, after that incident I heard that no other policemen ever asked for a bribe from JNU students. JNU students took law in their hand but not all people (aam aadmi) can do so.
