We wanted to get transcripts (original and a few copies) as for…

Reported on August 30, 2014 from Lucknow , Uttar Pradesh  ι Report #43127

We wanted to get transcripts (original and a few copies) as for pursuing higher education abroad. We were told by the UPTU Noida branch that the transcripts will be given in the Lucknow office and you will have to pay Rs. 200 for first copy and Rs. 10 each for subsequent copies you take. We asked the authorities to help us get the copies in Delhi itself as it will be difficult to commute to Lucknow for this. But, all in vain.

So, we decided to write mail to the UPTU officials sitting in Lucknow. After writing 10+ mails we got the reply 'Come to Lucknow'. Obviously, we asked for further formalities, as any other person would ask about as we didn't want to take any chances to miss the documents. But, we got no reply. After a few more chain mails, we copied Vice Chancellor to a mail and within few minutes we got the reply 'Get your mark sheet'. And this was the last reply from them.

Finally, we left for Lucknow on August 25, 2014. After hours of travel we reached the office and to our surprise, we were asked to pay Rs. 200 for first copy and Rs. 150 each for subsequent copies. We said that we were told Rs. 10 per subsequent copy, the person said 'Today only we have changed our rates'. On insisting that we even had a word with senior people through mails, reply came 'Sir, who checks the mails? Nobody here does that'. I mean how can you do this. Is this what we pay for our education, to bribe the authorities??

We paid the money and were shamelessly told, we will give you the copies after four days. It was very upsetting as we have done the requisite formalities. We were supposed to leave for Delhi the same day, but nobody heard us. We waited in the office till the evening, the Registrar, Deputy Registrar and all involved said, we cannot help you, at the earliest we will give you after four days.

We got our return tickets cancelled and waited in Lucknow for to get the copies, as we had no idea when will the transcript handed over to us. After so many rounds to the cabins and requesting every single authority we were shouted at and told 'There is no point you shouting at us because we won't do anything, either wait or leave'. Finally we got the copies after two days. Also, on the last day the Deputy Registrar was so angry that he threw the glue box at us saying 'Take this and do the paper work outside'. This was degrading!

That's a real shame. You should be proud that your students are so talented that they are opting for higher education abroad, but all you want is money. Have some respect towards others.
